Samford finished 15th at Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Samford men’s golf team finished play in the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational, with the third and final round Tuesday morning at the Guyan Golf and Country Club. Samford finished 15th in the event with a three-day score of 864 (295-290-279).

Junior Ashton Nix shot a two-under par 69 on the final day to finish as Samford’s top performer. Nix posted a three-round score of 215 (72-74-69) to finish tied for 36th in the event. Senior Zach Hughes carded a 216 (72-73-71), including an even-par 71 in Tuesday’s final round to finish in a tie for 41st.

After a slow start in the first round, junior Robert Adams shot an even-par 71 in the second round and 3-under-par 68 in the final round to finish with a total score of 217 (78-71-68), tying him for 49th overall. Junior Garrett Moores finished with a score of 220 (73-72-75) for the final counting score for the Bulldogs.

Ashton Van Horne of Belmont won the individual title in the tournament, carding a three-round score of 200 (66-67-67). As a team, Belmont took home the tournament title, with a total score of 834 (280-275-279).

Samford will return to action on Oct. 12 and 13, when the Bulldogs travel to Bowling Green, Kentucky, to take part in the Kenny Perry Invitational, hosted by Western Kentucky University.
