ETSU?s Meronk Named SoCon Golfer of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU junior Adrian Meronk has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from April 1-7. The selection is made by the league office.

Meronk finished third out of 81 competitors at the Mason Rudolph Championship last week, firing a 4-under 209 and posting a 69.7 stroke average on the par-71 layout at Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn. The tournament featured eight top-50 teams and nine individuals in the top half of the rankings.

The Wroclaw, Poland, native opened with an even-par 71 in Friday’s first round before posting a 3-under 68 Saturday to vault from a tie for 17th into a tie for third after 36 holes. Meronk continued his climb Sunday, posting a 1-under 70 to take the lead into the clubhouse before seeing a pair of top-50 golfers from tournament host Vanderbilt run him down.

Meronk, who was one of just three golfers in the field to post three rounds of par or better, turned in his fourth top-three finish of the season and seventh top-10 finish.

As a team, the No. 44 Bucs finished fifth in the stacked 14-team field and ahead of No. No. 49 Louisville, No. 24 SMU and No. 39 Georgia Southern.

ETSU concludes its regular season at the Greenbrier Collegiate Invitational in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., on April 13-14.

Also nominated: Roy Dixon (UNCG), Liam Johnston (Chattanooga) and Tyler Lail (Western Carolina).
