Novak leads, Wofford second at Camden Collegiate Invitational
CAMDEN, S.C. – Wofford junior Andrew Novak carded back-to-back rounds of 3-under-par 67 on Saturday at the Camden Collegiate Invitational and leads the field by three strokes. The tournament is being hosted by South Carolina at Camden Country Club, playing at par-70, 6,455 yards.
Novak sank 11 birdies in the first two rounds. He took advantage of Camden’s trio of par-5s, playing them at 4-under on the day with five birdies. Novak’s first round included four birdies and a bogey, while his second round saw seven birdies and four bogeys. Novak leads South Carolina’s Keenan Huskey and Will Miles by three strokes. Both Huskey and Miles are 3-under-par for the tournament. Three strokes behind the Gamecock duo is another Terrier junior, Jeremy Grab, in fourth at even-par 140.
Wofford is in second place in the 11-team tournament at 15-over-par 575. The Terriers are five shots clear of third-place Furman and USC Aiken (+20) but trail leader South Carolina by 22 shots. The Gamecocks head into Sunday’s final round with a 36-hole total of 7-under 553.
Wofford finished second by one stroke at last year’s Camden Collegiate to champion South Carolina. Then-Terrier senior Brannan Hudson won the tournament at 9-under 201.
