UTC's Robb Earns All-America Honors

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Chattanooga’s Chris Robb shot a career-best 64 (-6) in the final round of his collegiate career at the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club. That pushed him 60 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 15th, which earns him Golf Coaches Association of America All-America honors.

Robb completed the last 11 holes Monday morning after play was suspended by yet another weather delay Sunday evening. He was 1-under for his last 18 when he started Monday and parred his next five holes through 13.

He birdied the par-4 14th and par-3 15th to get to 3-under. After a par on 16, he closed out with three straight birdies for his 6-under total. That gave him a 54-hole score of 208, -2.

Robb was tied for 75th when the final round began. He ended up tied for 15th to earn All-American status.

Robb is just the second individual at Chattanooga to qualify for the NCAA Championship, joining Neil Connolly in 1993. He joins Stephan Jaeger as the only Mocs to play in two NCAA Championships.

The 2013-14 season is over for the Mocs. The team returns to action in September returning eight of 11 student-athletes as Robb, Davis Bunn and Benni Weilguni graduated in May. The trio was a part of three Southern Conference championship squads and an NCAA Regional champion (2012), made four regional appearances and participated in two NCAA Championships.

Stanford’s Cameron Wilson won the individual title in a playoff over Georgia Tech’s Ollie Schniederjans. The duo tied at 204. Wilson won it with a birdie on the par-5 17th, the third playoff hole.

Wilson’s Cardinal led the stroke-play team leaderboard at -13 (827). Stanford is joined in advancing to match play by Alabama (836), LSU (836), Oklahoma State (840), Georgia Tech (841), UCLA (844), SMU (845) and Illinois (845).
