Mocs Ninth at Old Waverly

Chattanooga ninth at Old Waverly Collegiate

WEST POINT, Miss. – The Chattanooga Mocs shot 7-over-par 295 to stand in ninth place at the Old Waverly Collegiate. The Mocs were an unofficial 1-under-par through 15 holes of round two, which was suspended until Tuesday by darkness.

Davis Bunn was the story over the first 18. His career-high seven birdies led to a season-low 69. He’s tied for second behind Southeastern Louisiana’s Lawrence Allen minus-4.

Chattanooga is four shots out of sixth and just five out of fifth after the first round. Cincinnati holds the team lead at 4-under (284), with South Alabama (286) in second. Florida and Ole Miss are tied for third at 289.

Wes Gosselin (73), Ewan Scott (76) and Chris Robb (77) completed the team scoring. Liam Johnston had the drop score with a 79. Unofficially, Bunn is -1, with Johnston, Gosselin and Robb each level par through 15 holes of the second round.

While the starting five is in Mississippi, four Mocs are playing as individuals at Jacksonville State’s Grub Mart Intercollegiate. The quartet torched Silver Lakes Golf Club, with Zac Stolz leading at 5-under 67.

Benni Weilguni hit all 18 greens, tallying a 3-under-par 69 and is in third. Brooks Thomas is tied for fourth at 70, while Stuart Thomas comes in tied for 12th at 73.

Chattanooga and playing partners Memphis and South Alabama resume play at 8:30 a.m. The field completes the final 18 in a shotgun start upon completion of round-two play.
