GSU's Scott Wolfes Named Men's Golfer of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Georgia Southern junior Scott Wolfes has been named the first Southern Conference men’s golfer of the week for the spring season. The selection is made by the league office and includes all competition through Feb. 25.

Wolfes tied for sixth in the Eagles’ opening tournament, the SunTrust Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. The St. Simons, Ga., native shot a 2-over 212 over the course of the three-round tournament, highlighted by a 3-under 67 in the final round, for a 70.67 stroke average.

Georgia Southern tied for seventh out of 14 teams in a tough field included eight ranked teams and seven ranked individuals.

The weekly award is the third for Wolfes, the reigning SoCon Player of the Year.

The Eagles will return to action March 3-4 at the Samford Intercollegiate in Hoover, Ala.

Also nominated: Preson Cole (Furman), Will DiIanni (Elon), Davis Bunn (Chattanooga) and Andrew Novak (Wofford).
