Chattanooga remains 13th at Carpet Capital Collegiate

ROCKY FACE, Ga. – The Chattanooga Mocs improved 10 shots from their first-round performance with an 8-over par 296 Saturday at the Carpet Capital Collegiate. That keeps UTC tied for 13th with Tennessee, six strokes behind Wake Forest and Kennesaw State.

Freshman Stuart Thomas led the way with an even-par 72. Davis Bunn carded a 74 (+2), while Brooks Thomas and Ewan Scott rounded out the counting scores with 3-over par 75s. Wes Gosselin had the drop score with a 76.

Bunn is the top Moc overall at 1-over par 145. He is tied for 14th. Georgia Tech’s Ollie Schniederjans extended his individual lead with a second straight 67 for a total of 10-under (134). He is three shots clear of North Carolina’s Bailey Patrick at 137.

Georgia Tech saw its 10-shot leaded dwindle to four. The Yellow Jackets are at 7-under (569) with Georgia closing in fast. The Bulldogs shot 282 (-6) to stand at minus-3 (573) with 18 to go.

Chattanooga opens play on No. 10 at 8:20 a.m., for Sunday’s final round. Brooks Thomas leads off followed by Gosselin (8:31), Scott (8:42), Stuart Thomas (8:53) and Bunn (9:04). The Mocs are paired with Tennessee and the five individuals entered separate of the team competition.
