Chattanooga ties for 11th at Golfweek Conference Challenge

BURLINGTON, Iowa – Chris Robb fired a season-best 69 (-3) to lead the Chattanooga Mocs to a tie for 11th finish at the Golfweek Conference Challenge. His round paced a season-low team score of 292.

The 293 moved the squad from 13th into a tie for 11th with Florida Gulf Coast. The two schools ended up three strokes out of 10th behind Arizona (892).

Davis Bunn shot an even-par 72 to end up as the low Moc at 223. He finished one shot ahead of Robb and Brooks Thomas. Benni Weilguni rounded out the scoring Tuesday with a 75 (+3), which ended his 54 holes at 228.

Oklahoma held off Virginia Tech for the win. The Sooners’ 1-over-par 289 gave them a 7-under-par 857. The Hokies shot a sizzling 278 (-10) to make up 11 shots but fell four shy at 861 (-3). Scott Vincent shot 64 Tuesday to share medalist honors with LSU’s Stewart Jolly at minus-6 (210).

The Mocs are off until October, when they head south to Macon, Ga., for the Brickyard Collegiate. Played Oct. 4-6, the Brickyard is an annual stop on the UTC schedule.
