SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga senior Steven Fox has been named the Southern Conference men’s golfer of the week for all competition March 27 to April 2. The selection is made by the league office.

Fox posted a runner-up finish at the BancorpSouth Intercollegiate in Madison, Miss., on Monday and Tuesday, matching his career-low 54-hole total with an 8-under 208. The Hendersonville, Tenn., native turned in his second second-place finish of the season with rounds of 69, 69 and 70.

He played 52 of his 54 holes at par or better, recording 10 birdies and 42 pars.

The Mocs finished fourth in the 14-team field, which included 75 players.

On Thursday, Fox, the reigning U.S. Amateur champion, will meet British Amateur champion Alan Dunbar at the Georgia Cup at the Golf Club of Georgia. Fox will then head to Augusta National for the Masters on April 11-14.

Chattanooga is idle until the Southern Conference Men’s Golf Championship at the Ralston Creek Course in Daniel Island, S.C., on April 21-23. The Mocs are the defending champions of the event.

Also nominated: Taylor Coalson (UNCG) and Casey O’Toole (Samford).
