UTC's Fox Misses Cut at Masters

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Chattanooga Mocs senior Steven Fox lived out his dream the last two days. He traversed the hills of Augusta National Golf Club for 36 holes. While he missed the cut, he wouldn’t trade the experience for anything.

He shot 81 Friday in a long, arduous round playing alongside Masters champion Bubba Watson and Ryder Cup villain Ian Poulter. Fox’s putter remained cold with 36 putts Friday and 67 for the 36 holes. His ball-striking was much better, as he hit 10 of 14 fairways and 11 of 18 greens.

Jason Day is the 36-hole leader at 6-under par 138. He leads former champion Fred Couples and Australian countryman Marc Leishman by one. The trio of former champ Angel Cabrera, Jim Furyk and Nashville’s Brandt Snedeker are two behind at minus-4.

Despite the score, Fox left with head held high. Fox tied the great Tom Watson and finished one clear of Hunter Mahan and former winners Craig Stadler and Ian Woosnam.
