Wofford ties for sixth at Badger Invitational
MADISON, Wis. – Wofford men’s golf senior George Perkovich recorded the best 54-hole score of his collegiate career, completing the Wisconsin Badger Invitational on Tuesday at 1-over-par 217 to lead the Terriers to a tie for sixth place.
Perkovich finished Tuesday with a 4-over-par 76 to record the first top-10 of his collegiate career. The senior shot a career-low 4-under-par 68 in the second round on Monday, along with a 1-over-par 73 Sunday.
Windy conditions with gusts up to 20 miles per hour affected all of the teams during final-round play at University Ridge Golf Course. Wofford was no exception, beginning the day at 12-over-par through 36 holes and shooting a final-round score of 16-over-par 308. The 16-over round actually helped the Terriers climb from beginning the day in seventh place to finishing the tournament in a tie with Rutgers University for sixth at 28-over-par (892).
Freshman Andrew Novak was one of just seven individuals to shoot under par on Tuesday. Novak carded a 2-under-par 70 – his first ever round under par – to leap 34 spots on the final day. The freshman began the day tied for 52nd place and finished the tournament tied for 18th with a 6-over 222.
Junior Brannan Hudson shot his second consecutive round of 6-over-par 78 and completed the tournament tied for 33rd at 10-over 226. Junior Cory Taylor finished 15-over-par in a tie for 52nd place, and senior Chandler Brazeal tied for 65th at 20-over.

The Terriers take a week off from competition before getting back to action Sunday, Oct. 13, beginning the three-day Donald Ross Intercollegiate from Morganton, N.C.
Georgia Southern sixth at Shoal Creek Invitational
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Will Evans shot a 1-over-par 73 in the final round and tied for third at the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate on Tuesday. Georgia Southern placed seventh in the 12-team tournament, which featured seven teams in the top 50 in the country.
Evans bogeyed his first and last holes of the day, but those were the only blemishes on his card. The senior birdied the par-3 13th hole and collected 15 pars on the way to his second top-three finish of the young season after shooting 68-69-73=210. He tied for second at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic last weekend.

Host UAB (-16) was second, while Ole Miss (-7) tied for third with Florida, which shot 2-under Tuesday. UCF (even) was fifth, followed by Liberty (+2) in sixth.
Wolfes was even through his first eight holes but double-bogeyed 9 and bogeyed 10. The junior birdied hole 11 and finished the round with seven straight pars. He tied for 39th, as a second-round 79 took him out of contention.
Martin was cruising through his first nine holes and made the turn at 1-under par after making birdie on the par-5 third hole. The back nine was a struggle, as he logged three straight bogeys on 12, 13 and 14 and then made triple on hole 17.
Koivu and Humber were the opposite and struggled on the front nine. Koivu was 2-over on the back and finished with six consecutive pars. Humber was even on the back and capped his round with seven straight pars after a birdie on 11. His 79 Tuesday dropped him into a tie for 34th. Towler also struggled on the front nine but played the back at 2-over.
The Eagles have a few weeks off before returning to action at the AutoTrader Collegiate Classic in Duluth, Ga., Oct. 14-15.
