Mocs End Up 8th at LSU National Invitational
BATON ROUGE, La. --- Senior Stephan Jaeger fired a final 66 (-6) to lead the Chattanooga Mocs to an eighth-place finish at the LSU National Invitational. UTC shot 290 Sunday to end up at 894.
Jaeger's six-under par day vaulted him into the top 20 at five over 221 for the 54 holes tying for 17th. He was one shot behind teammate Steven Fox (Hendersonville, Tenn.). Fox's 72 moved him into a tie for 14th at 220 (+4).
Chris Robb (Aberdeenshire, Scotland) shot 73 (+1) to wind up at nine-over par 225, tying for 29th. Liam Johnston(Dumfries, Scotland) and Alex Ratliff (Kingsport, Tenn.) rounded out the team scoring with twin 79's today. Johnston shot 231, while Ratliff ended at 242.
LSU stormed from six shots back to retain its title shooting minus nine (279) today, 853 (-11) for the tournament. Iowa dropped to second at nine under (855) as Purdue was a distant third at 13 over (877).
Austin Gutgsell (LSU) one-upped Jaeger with a seven-under par 65 (-7) to claim medalist honors at 207 (-9). Purdue's Jakob Ziegler was second at 211 (-5). Andrew Pressley (LSU) and Erik Van Rooyen (Minnesota) tied for third at minus four (212).
It's on to the Southern Conference Championship for Chattanooga. This year's league crown will be decided on the Ralston Creek Course in Daniel Island, S.C., April 15-17. Live scoring can be accessed on GoMocs.com via the men's golf schedule page.

Davidson Golf Places 12th at Irish Creek Collegiate
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - No. 21 Kent State won the Irish Creek Collegiate by 14 strokes and Davidson men's golf placed 12th at 885 (299+291+295) after the final round Sunday at The Club at Irish Creek.
Kent State (825) and No. 17 Duke (839) both shot tournament-low rounds of 272, 12-under par Sunday to claim the top spots in the team standings. Mercer's James Beale shota three-round score of 200 (-13) to win individual medalist honors by two strokes over No. 13 Julian Suri of Duke.
Junior John Skeadas led Davidson on the par-71, 7099-yard course, firing a final-round, two-under par 69 to place in a tie for 29th at 217, four-over par.
Sophomore Richard Fountain finished in a tie for 38th in the competitive field at 219 (75+70+74), six-over par. Classmate Sam Echikson was Davidson's third-best finisher in a tie for 53rdat 224. Senior Jackson Taylor (230) and freshman Ralph Blasey (231) also competed for the Wildcats.
Charlotte and Davidson hosted the tournament in conjunction with the Charlotte Regional Sports Commission.
Davidson will next compete at the Wofford Invitational, April 9-10.
Furman's Murphy, Reeves Finish Strong At LSU Invitational
Baton Rouge, La. - J.B. Murphy carded a final round 71 and Austin Reeves fired a 73 to lead the Furman men's golf team to a 10th place finish on Sunday in the LSU Invitational at the par-72, 7,346-yard University Club.
Murphy, who finished in a tie for 35th at 10-over par, played The University Club's four par-fives at three-under and birdied a total of four holes over the final 18 holes to pace the Paladins in final round play. Reeves (+9) birdied three of his final six holes to shoot one-over and earn a share of 29th place.
Furman posted a final round 299 to claim a share of 10th place with Michigan at 43-over while the host LSU Tigers (-11) shot a third-round 279 to edge second place Iowa (-9) by two strokes.
LSU's Austin Gutgsell used a seven-under 65 on Sunday to capture individual medalist honors at nine-under par.
Furman returns to action April 15-17, at the Southern Conference Men's Golf Championship.
