Chattanooga surges to
fourth-place finish at Brickyard Collegiate
MACON, Ga. – The
Chattanooga Mocs shook off the end of their second round by punishing the
Brickyard at Riverside on Sunday, shooting 11-under par 277 over their final
18. That 277 pushed UTC into a tie for fourth with Virginia Tech at three-over
par 867.
That 11-under par total came from 69s by Chris Robb, Benni
Weilguni and Michael Monre along with a 2-under par 70 by Liam Johnston. Davis
Bunn had the drop score with a 76.
Robb completed the event at 2-under par 214, tying for 11th.
Weilguni and Monroe both tied for 22nd at 2-over 218, three shots clear of
Johnston at 221. Bunn rounded out the scoring at 227.
Georgia was the wire-to-wire winner, shooting 847. Georgia
Tech finished second at 862 as North Florida ended up third at 865.
Jonathan Grey (Georgia State) and Sam Straka (Georgia) tied
for medalist honors, firing 8-under par 208. Georgia’s Nicholas Reach was third
a shot back at minus-7.
Chattanooga is back in action Oct. 15-16 at the
AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic.
College of Charleston
remain 13th at Brickyard Collegiate Championship
MACON, Ga. – The
College of Charleston men’s golf team continued its steady play as it shot a
final-round 6-over and finished 13th in the Brickyard Collegiate Championship
on Sunday at the Brickyard Riverside Golf Club.
The 6-over score was the Cougars’ best of the tournament to
go with an opening 13-over and second-round 8-over to finish at 27-over.
Georgia, which took control early in the tournament, shot 9-under in the final
round and finished at 17-under for a 15-stroke victory over runner-up Georgia
Tech (-2). North Florida (+1) finished in third place.
Junior Alex Ellis was the Cougars’ top finisher for the
tournament as he carded rounds of 69-74-74=217 (+1) and finished tied for 19th
overall.
Up next, the Cougars return to familiar territory as they
compete in the Kiawah Classic hosted by Charleston Southern at the Turtle Point
Golf Club on Kiawah Island.
