Cougars Finish Fourth at Kiawah Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Led by sophomore Zach Munroe, who finished tied for third place individually, the College of Charleston men’s golf team finished fourth at the Kiawah Classic on Tuesday at Turtle Point.

The conditions were tough on the final day of the tournament, as no team shot under par and 21 of the 26 teams shot at least 12-over par. The Cougars shot 24-over and finished 38-over for the tournament with rounds of 290-292-308. South Carolina won the team title as it shot even-par and finished at 7-over for the tournament.

A pair of Cougar golfers finished in the top 10 with Munroe shooting rounds of 71-71-73=215 (+2) and finished tied for third place and junior Alex Ellis shot rounds of 70-73-74=217 (+4) and finished tied for sixth place.

The Cougars resume the 2012-13 season with the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational on Feb. 11-12 at the Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George, Utah.
