Chattanooga in the lead
at Bridgestone Golf Collegiate
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Chris
Robb shot 6-under par 138 Saturday to lead the Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team
to the 36-hole lead at the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate. Chattanooga shot rounds
of 289 and 282 for a 5-under par total of 571.
Robb tied his career-low 18 with a 66 (-6) in round two. He
is in second place, two shots off the pace set by Mississippi State's Axel
Boasson. Boasson is at 8-under (136) after rounds of 69 and 67.
Benni Weilguni and Michael Monroe were solid for the Mocs.
Weilguni opened with a 72 and closed at 1-under 143 with a 71 on his second 18.
Monroe was equal to the task. He followed a first-round 73 with
a 71 of his own. He's tied for 13th at level par, one shot behind Weilguni at
minus-1.
Steven Fox is also in the top 20 at 2-over par 146. He shot
72-74 to end up tied for 18th. Liam Johnston shot 152 for his 36 holes as his
73 in the first round gave the Mocs three 72s and two 73s on the opening cards.
UTC was in fourth after that first round 289 (+1). It was a
solid all-around effort that was a bit disappointing, considering the crew was 8-under
midway through the round.
It was a quick start to the second as Robb opened
birdie-eagle-bogey-birdie. The Mocs followed suit and held strong for the 6-under
282.
Chattanooga (571) leads Mississippi State by one at 572.
Iowa State is third, three shots back at 574, while Ole Miss is fourth at 584.
