BUCKINGHAMSHIRE, ENGLAND - After shooting rounds of 72 and 74 in the stroke play portion of the 2011 English Amateur Championship senior Henry Smart has stormed back and has reached the round of 8 at the Woburn Golf Club.
The first two days of the tournament featured 36 Holes of Stroke Play on the Duke's and Duchess' championship courses. The lowest 64 and ties advanced to the match play knockout round of which every match consists of 18 holes with the exception of the final round. Smart fired a 2-over 146 and was in 34th place.
Quarterfinals and semifinals will be conducted today, leaving the final, which will be contested over 36 holes, on Saturday July 30.
Smart is paired against Callum Shinkwin in the quarter final. Shinkwin was 55th after stroke play with a 4-over 148.
