SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Juniors Matt Broome of Furman and Stephan Jaeger of Chattanooga have been selected as the Southern Conference Men's Golfers of the Week for all competition from March 16-22.
The pair tied as the top Southern Conference finishers at last weekend's Furman Intercollegiate at the Furman University Golf Club.
Broome claimed a share of 10th place at one-under 215 to help Furman to a fifth place finish. The Barrington, R.I., native shot rounds of 75-72-68 to lead the Paladins in the 22-team field that included five top 50 teams in Golfstat's NCAA Head-to-Head rankings.
Jaeger, who hails from Munich, Germany, equaled Broome's performance, shooting rounds of 74-69-72 to earn his eighth career top 10 and the second of the 2010-11 season. Broome and Jaeger were the top finishers among 35 SoCon golfers in the field. As a team, the Mocs finished five strokes behind the Paladins in the sixth spot.
Other top performers this week were Western Carolina's Jack Walsh and Wofford's Brent Whitehead.
