SPARTANBURG, S.C. - College of Charleston freshman Alex Ellis has been selected as the Southern Conference Men's Golfer of the Week for all spring competition through February 22.

Ellis turned in a 70-69=139 effort to finish second at the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational in St. George, Utah. The freshman finished at five-under par for the event after shooting below par in each round. His efforts also propelled the Cougars to a second-place finish in the team competition as well.

Other top performers this week were UNCG's Robert Hoadley, Elon's John Somers, Appalachian State's Casey Komline, Davidson's John Skeadas, Samford's Casey O'Toole and Western Carolina's Jack Walsh.
