ELON, N.C. -- The Eagles for Haiti drive led by Elon senior men's golfer Jayson Judy to raise money for the Red Cross earthquake relief efforts in Haiti recently came to a close after the 2010 Southern Conference Men's Golf Championship in Florence, S.C.  Eagles for Haiti, which took pledges for each eagle recorded by a SoCon program this spring, raised $4,100 for the Red Cross.
  
"Eagles for Haiti officially came to a close following the final round of the Southern Conference Championship on April 20, 2010," stated Judy.  "We had a very productive spring season and we are extremely grateful for everyone who has supported us over the last three months.  Our Southern Conference teams competed in twenty-eight tournaments and scored fifty-one total eagles, three of which were scored at the conference tournament."  
 
Over the course of the season, Eagles for Haiti was featured in Golfweek magazine, Golf World magazine and a number of newspapers and online blogs around the country.   On April 30, 2010, Judy presented the $4,100 amount to the Piedmont Chapter of the Red Cross.
 
The 11 SoCon programs totaled 51 eagles, led by eight eagles each from Georgia Southern and Chattanooga.  Wofford and Appalachian State were close behind with seven eagles apiece.
 
The Eagles for Haiti initiative was put in place to raise funds for the Red Cross to go toward relief efforts following the devastating earthquake in that island nation.  Both individuals and corporations made pledges per eagle recorded by any SoCon men's golf program.
