Monday’s second round was not finished; teams will complete second, play third round Tuesday
Scottsdale, Ariz. ? Western Carolina carded an opening round five-over, 285, to stand amidst a two-way tie for 12th in the 24-team field at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic being played at the par-70, 7,133-yard Talking Stick Golf Course. UC Santa Barbara shot a five-under, 275 to lead the event after the opening 18 holes.
The second round, which was scheduled to follow immediately after Monday’s opening 18-holes, was not completed on the first day with golfers lacking anywhere from one-to-three holes. The second round will be finished and immediately followed by the third and final round on Tuesday morning beginning at 7:30 am MT, 9:30 am ET.
Oklahoma and Colorado are four strokes behind UC Santa Barbara after they both shot one-under, 279, with Old Dominion and San Diego six strokes in arrears in a tie for fourth after shooting 281.
Nevada’s Taylor Coffman shot a five-under, 65, on Monday’s opening round to take a one-stroke lead over a three-way tie for fourth at four-under, 66. Scott Clayton of UC-Riverside, Tyler Rody from Oklahoma and UC-Santa Barbara’s Russell Boring are each one stroke in arrears of the first round leader in a tie for second.
For the Catamounts, sophomore Kyle Wilson matched a career-low round with a two-under, 68, on Monday to stand tied for seventh after 18 holes. Senior Tanner Briele is tied for 24th after shooting an even-par 70, while classmate Ricky Stout is tied for 36th with a one-over, 71.
Rounding out WCU’s finishers through the opening round were freshman Trey White in a tie for 97th after shooting 76, and senior Drew Miller in a tie for 102nd after shooting 77.
