Freshman earned first career title at Furman Intercollegiate

SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Chattanooga freshman Steven Fox has been selected as the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 17-23.

Fox tied 2009 U.S. Amateur finalist Ben Martin of Clemson for medalist honors at the Furman Intercollegiate in Greenville, S.C. The freshman was down two shots heading into 18 and birdied the hole to tie. The win marked Fox’s second straight top 10 finish while his three-round total of 210 (-6) ties Stephan Jaeger for the lowest 54-hole total on the team this season.

Fox is the third freshman in as many weeks to win the conference’s weekly honor.

Other top golfers this week were Western Carolina’s Tanner Briele and Wofford’s Mark Joye.
