Freshman earned first career title by seven strokes
SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Samford freshman Casey O’Toole has been selected as the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 3-9.
O’Toole earned the first, first-place finish of his collegiate career Tuesday at the Samford Invitational. The freshman from Oneonta, Ala., turned in the best two rounds of his young career as he closed out the tournament with back-to-back scores of 65 and 66 en route to his seven-stroke victory. O’Toole also helped lead Samford to its best finish of the season as the Bulldogs finished tied for first place with the No. 33-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores at the Limestone Springs Golf Club in Oneonta, Ala.
Other golfers receiving consideration this week were Chattanooga’s Stephen Jaeger and Wofford’s Mark Joye.
