UNCG's Hoadley one shot back entering final round at Georgetown Intercollegiate
BEALSVILLE, MD - UNCG sophomore Robert Hoadley carded rounds of 71 and 67 on Monday to sit at four-under par after two rounds at the 26th Annual Georgetown Intercollegiate, being held at The Members Club at Four Streams.
Hoadley is tied for fourth, one shot behind a trio of golfers who sit atop the leader board. Vaita Guillaume of Campbell, Zach MacDougall from Eastern Michigan and Miami-Ohio's Austin Kelly all sit at five-under par 137 after 36 holes. A total of 17 golfers are within four shots of the lead, which should make for a wild final round on Tuesday.
UNCG is fifth in the team standings, 10 shots off the lead. Campbell leads the team scoring at 559. Miami-Ohio is second at 565, followed by Maryland and Eastern Michigan tied for third. The Spartans won the tournament last season, rallying from 11 shots back on the final day to pass Washington State for the win.
Tuesday's final round gets underway at approximately 8 a.m.

Season-Low 286 Propels Cougars to Fourth
DAVIDSON, N.C. - After firing a 302 in the first round, the College of Charleston men's golf team shot a season-low 286 in the second to move up from a tie at 10th to fourth at the Davidson College Invitational being held Oct. 18-19 at the River Run Country Club in Davidson, N.C. Wofford is even par with a 576 and leads the tournament, while Guilford is second with a 583.
In third is Presbyterian with a 585 and just 12 strokes off the pace is Charleston with a 588. Rounding out the top five is fellow Southern Conference member Western Carolina with a 589.
Guilford's Noah Ratner leads the tournament with a five-under par 139, while Wofford's Brent Whitehead is second with a 141.
Leading the Cougars is Coy Breen (San Antonio, Texas) who is tied for fifth after firing a 144 in the first round. Alex Ellis (Austin, Texas) is tied for 20th with a 147 and with a 148, Seth Stuart (Austin, Texas) is tied for 26th. John Duke Hudson (Sonora, Texas) is tied for 31st wit ha 149 and tied for 50th is Elliott Lopez with a 153.
Ross Tooley (Mt. Plesant, S.C.) is competing for the Cougars as an individual and is tied for 26th with a 148.
Lopez leads things off for the Cougars in the third and final round at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Catamount Men's Golf Fifth at Davidson Invitational
Final round scheduled for Tuesday morning
Davidson, N.C. - Western Carolina men's golf team stood tied for second after the opening round on Monday, but slipped into fifth place after the second 18 holes at the Davidson College Invitational at the par-72, 7,209-yard River Run Country Club. WCU posted rounds of 293 and 296 - both among the top four single-round scores of the season to date - to be in the clubhouse at 589, 13 strokes off the pace.
Junior Kyle Wilson and freshman Jack Walsh both shot two-over, 146, with identical rounds of 73 to stand tied for 15th to lead the Catamounts. The tandem was tied for 17th after the opening 18 holes, advancing two spots in the individual standings entering the second round.
Sophomore Trey White posted an even-par 72 on the opening 18, but shot three-over 75 in the second round to slip from a tenth-place tie to a tie for 20th after 36 holes. He was followed by freshmen teammates Collin Witiak and Greg Bunner, both tied for 39th at seven-over, 151.
Playing as an individual, junior transfer Ryan Booth is the highest ranking WCU player, tied for 10th after shooting rounds of 76 and 69 to be in the clubhouse at one-over, 145. He is the highest of eight unattached players in the field.
Southern Conference-foe, Wofford, posted an eight-under par, 280, in the second round to catapult into the lead Guilford College by seven strokes, 576-to-583, entering the final round. Presbyterian stands third, nine strokes off the pace at 585 followed by the College of Charleston (588) and Western Carolina (589) in fifth.
Noah Ratner of Guilford College leads the field with a five-under, 139, through the first two rounds, with the Wofford duo of Brent Whitehead (141) in second and Chandler Brazeal (142) in third place.
Paired with players from Cincinnati and the College of Charleston, Western Carolina's first golfer will take to the first tee at 9:09 am on Tuesday morning for the final round.
Davidson Golf Moves Up in Second Round at River Run
DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Davidson men's golf team moved up four places into a tie for sixth with a two-round score of 593 (302+291) in the Davidson College Invitational at River Run Country Club Monday. Senior Ryan Crum will lead the Wildcats into the third-and-final round Tuesday at 147, three-over par.
Southern Conference rival Wofford leads the field of 13 teams by seven strokes with an even-par 576 (296+280). Guilford trails at 583 (293+290), led by the tournament's top individual, Noah Ratner (139, five-under par). Presbyterian sits third at 585 (290+295), while two more SoCon teams, College of Charleston and Western Carolina, are fourth (588=302+286) and fifth (589=293+296), respectively.
Both Davidson and Cincinnati (298+295) are four strokes outside the top five at 593. The Wildcats are ahead of conference opponents Elon (12th place, 607=309+298) and Appalachian State (13th, 611=298+313).
Crum (South Salem, N.Y.) is currently in a tie for 20th after shooting the 'Cats' lowest team-score of the first round, an even-par 72. Crum is tied with classmate Christopher Rollins (White Plains, N.Y.), who finished the first round at two-under par with a 70 and shot a 77 in the second to finish the day at 147, three-over par.
Sophomore John Skeadas III (Savannah, Ga.) matched Rollins' 70 to lead Davidson in the second round.
The freshman duo of Richard Fountain (Raleigh, N.C.) and Sam Echikson (Brussels, Belgium) is tied at 150, six-over par in 36th place. Fountain fired a 77 in the first, but lowered his score to 73 in the second round. Echikson fired a pair of 75's. Senior Bobby Urso (Beverly Hills, Mich.) trails them by one stroke in a tie for 39th place after matching Fountain's second-round 73.
The third-and-final round will begin Tuesday morning with the first groups teeing off from hole No. 1 at 8:15 a.m. and hole No. 10 at 8:20 a.m. Skeadas will tee-off first for Davidson from the first hole at 9 a.m., and will be followed by Urso (9:09 a.m.), Echikson (9:18 a.m.), Fountain (9:27 a.m.) and Crum (9:36 a.m.). Rollins leads four Davidson golfers competing as individuals beginning at 9:14 a.m. from hole No. 10.
The Invitational is taking place at the River Run Country Club, a 7,208-yard, par-72 championship course located in Davidson, N.C. The course was recognized by Golf Reporter as one of the finest tracks in the Southeast, and went through a complete renovation in 2007, including a rebuilding of all of the greens, and a laser-leveling of the tee boxes. It is one of the home courses for the Davidson golf program, giving the 'Cats one of the top facilities in the area.
Men's Golf Competing at Davidson College Invitational
DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Stephen Dressel led the contingent of Elon's men's golfers on the first day of the Davidson College Invitational on Monday and sits in a tie for 26th following two rounds of play. The Phoenix (309-298--607) is in 12th place among the 13 teams in the tournament with a round to play.
Dressel's first round was a one-over par 73. He then fired a second-round 75 for a two-round score of 148. Four strokes back, in a tie for 44th out of the field of 75 golfers, is John Somers who carded rounds of 77 and 75 for a total of 152.
Jack Adkins' score of 153 (80-73) has the freshman in a tie for 50th while #Tanner Norton#'s two-round tally of 155 (80-75) is tied for 57th. Rounding out Elon's field is Leif Neijstrom who fired rounds of 79 and 80 to sit in a tie for 62nd with a score of 159.
Wofford shot an even-par score of 576 (296-280) over its two rounds to sit atop the leaderboard after day one. The Terriers lead Guilford College (293-290--583) by seven strokes. Presbyterian (290-295--585) sits third, followed by College of Charleston (302-286--588) and Western Carolina (293-296--589). Host Davidson (302-291--593) is tied for sixth with Cincinnati (298-295--593).
Elon leads Appalachian State (298-313--611) by four strokes.
Guilford's Noah Ratner (68-71--139) leads Wofford's Brent Whitehead (71-70--141) for the individual lead.
The third and final round of the event will be played on Tuesday.
ASU's Nichols Tied for First After Davidson's Opening Round
DAVIDSON, N.C. - Sophomore Josh Nichols fired a four-under par 68 on Monday to tie for first place after one round of the Davidson College Invitational. Appalachian State University men's golf is tied for sixth at 298 (+10) with 18 holes to play on Tuesday. The opening-round 68 was the lowest score of Nichols' career.
Darren Cook also ranks in the top-10 as his 71 (-1) landed him in a tie for sixth, while Jay Brown carded a 79 (+7) in a tie for 57th.
Senior Dustin Hudson shot an 80 (+8) on Monday to tie for 64th and Colin Hobbs was two strokes back in 70th place.
Presbyterian College leads the team competition at 290 (+2), three strokes ahead of both Western Carolina and Guilford College. GC's Noah Ratner is the other player tied for first place.
Also competing from the Southern Conference, Wofford is in fourth place at 296 (+8), while College of Charleston and host Davidson are tied for 10th at 302 (+14). Elon is 13th at 309 (+21).
The third and final round begins Tuesday morning at River Run Country Club.
