Casey Johnson won the North/South Intercollegiate title
SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Appalachian State junior Casey Johnson has been named the Southern Conference men’s golfer of the week for all competition from March 4-10.
Johnson won medalist honors at the North/South Intercollegiate in Jacksonville, Fla., with an eagle on the second playoff hole. The junior from Charlotte, N.C., shot a 68 on day one of the event to sit in eighth and followed that with a school-record 65 in round two, forcing the playoff. The win is the first in Johnson’s collegiate career.
The golfer of the week is selected by a vote of the league’s men’s golf sports information directors.
Other top performers during the week were Wofford’s Drew Perry, Western Carolina’s Dustin Funari and Furman’s Daniel Bowden.
