SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Chattanooga golfer Jonathan Hodge has been named Southern Conference men’s golfer of the week for April 2.
Hodge earned his third individual victory of the season over the weekend as he captured the Furman Intercollegiate title in Greenville, S.C. The Jefferson City, Tenn., native recorded a three-under par 213 to capture the medalist honors while also guiding the Mocs to a team victory by three strokes over Clemson. The 29th-ranked golfer in the country, Hodge fired an opening round 69 to lead after day one and never relinquished his advantage in the 54-hole event.
This is Hodge’s second golfer of the week honor in 2008 as well as the second-in-a-row for a Chattanooga golfer.
Another top performance was turned in by Furman's Ben Goforth.
