UNCG's Younts records first Top 10 of year, Spartans seventh at Georgetown
BEALLSVILLE, MD ? Drew Younts recorded his first Top 10 finish of the season as UNC Greensboro moved up to seventh on the final day at the Georgetown Intercollegiate, played on the Members Club at Four Streams.
Younts, a junior from Stokesdale, NC, carded a final round 75, equaling his Monday opening round and finishing in a seven-way tie for ninth place. Will Bowman carded a 76 on Tuesday to finish one shot behind Younts in a tie for 16th place.
The Spartans finished seventh as a team with a score of 609. UNCG’s 309 on Tuesday was tied for the fifth best score in the 12-team field and pulled the Spartans up three places on Tuesday. The tournament had been shortened to 36 holes due to an extended frost delay on Monday.
Miami-OH won the team title, holding on to a big lead that it established on Monday. The Redhawks shot a 303 on Monday to win by five shots over William & Mary. William & Mary’s Doug Hurson carded a final round 73 to win the individual title by one shot over Miami’s Aaron Crist.
UNCG will host the UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate this coming weekend. Practice rounds, a youth clinic and collegiate-amateur tournament will kick things off on Saturday afternoon at Forest Oaks Country Club. Tournament play gets underway on Monday.

College of Charleston Men's Golf Finishes Ninth at CSU Fall Invitational
Goose Creek, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's golf team shot a 316 in the third round to finish ninth at the Charleston Southern Fall Invitational held Oct. 19-22 at the Crowfield Golf and Country Club in Goose Creek, S.C. Murray State won the tournament with an 892. Charleston finished with a 942.
Soonam Kim led the Cougars, tying for 20th with a 230. Renny Budding tied for 28th with a 233 and Cabe Prieskorn tied for 33rd with a 235. Scott Larkin shot a 245 to finish 49th while Ross Tooley shot a 249 for 52nd.
Elliott Lopez competed as an individual for the Cougars and tied for 31st with a 234.
