Florence, S.C. ? Chattanooga shot a team total 293 to lead after the opening round of the 2007 Men’s Golf Championship at the Country Club of South Carolina in Florence, S.C. on Sunday afternoon. 

The Mocs are two strokes ahead of second place Wofford who finished with a first round 295.  Georgia Southern and Western Carolina round out the top three after both posted a 296.

Wofford’s Garrett Medeiros leads the field after carding a 68 on the day.  Appalachian State’s Taylor Hines sits in second finishing with a 69 and Andres Cuenca of Western Carolina recorded a 70 for third place.  Chattanooga’s Mitch Brock, Elon’s Justin Newton and Western Carolina’s Matt Cook all posted a 71 in round one to share the fourth spot.  

The second round of the championship will tee off at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, April 23.
