SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Southern Conference announced today that Georgia Southern’s Bryan Jones has been named the Men’s Golfer of the Week with Western Carolina’s Kandy Carland being named the Women’s Golfer of the Week for the week of March 21.

Jones, a senior from Atlanta, Ga., finished tied for seventh at the Schenkel E-Z-GO Invitational on March 17-18.  He fired a career-low 66 in the final round to record an even par 216.  Jones’ strong finish also led the Eagles to seventh place including finishing ahead of three top-25 opponents.  Jones also recorded his first career ace on hole three in the final round along with five consecutive birdies on holes 12 through 16.

Carland, a junior from Hendersonville, N.C., led Western Carolina to an eighth place finish at the Shamrock Invitational hosted by Winthrop University on March 17-18.  She shot rounds of 77 and 79 to place fourth, her best since landing in second at the Cincinnati Fall Classic last October.  

Other top performers include The Citadel’s Kasey Owen’s, Elon’s Samantha Widmer and Jimmy Lytle and UNCG’s David Heyen.
