The Southern Conference named Wofford’s Andrew Hewitt its Men’s Golfer of the Week and UNC Greensboro’s Ashley Mylton its Women’s Golfer of the Week for the week ending March 7.

A senior, Hewitt wins the accolade after participating in just his second intercollegiate tournament after playing baseball for the Terriers his first three years of college. On the golf course, Hewitt finished third among all individuals with an 8-over par 224 three-round total at Wofford’s spring-opening event, the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, SC.

The Moore, SC, native commenced the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate with an opening-round 79, but then rallied in the final two days by firing a round of 72 and then 73 to finish third in the event.

Mylton finished with a career-best three-round total of 227 to finish in second place and just two strokes back of the winner in the Fighting Camel Spring Classic, hosted by Campbell University.

A sophomore from Charlotte, NC, Mylton nearly rallied back from seven shots back to win on the final day.
