Third-Round 74 Drops Price to 40th In NCAA Championships

HOT SPRINGS, Va. - Five bogeys contributed to a four-over 74 for Georgia Southern's Aron Price during third round action of the 107th Men's NCAA Division I Championships Thursday, dropping the junior to 40th-place with a seven-over 217 total, thus missing the cut for advancement to the final round.

Price recorded a birdie on No. 6 but also posted a double-bogey on No. 3 before carding two more bogeys on the front nine to finish with a three-over 38 at the turn. After struggling with another pair of bogeys on No. 10 and No. 15, he added a birdie on No. 16 to complete the back nine with a one-over 36 at the par-70, 6,679-yard Homestead Resort Cascades Golf Course.

Price's 217 was 16 strokes behind current leader Ryan Moore of Nevada-Las Vegas, who added a tourney-best 64 to his 201 (-9) total during Thursday's round.

UCLA passed second-round leader California-Berkeley in the team standings, firing a five-under 275 to sit at 847 (+7) with 18 holes to play. Kentucky stands second with an 852 while Cal-Berkeley (855), Washington (856) and Arizona (856) round out the top five.

Price represented Georgia Southern as an individual competitor after finishing ninth at the NCAA East Regional May 20-22

Second Round

HOT SPRINGS, Va. - Georgia Southern junior Aron Price moved up 14 places and improved his first round score by one stroke after shooting a one-over 71 during the second round of the NCAA Championships at The Homestead Resort's Cascades Golf Course Wednesday.

The Australia native, who will open play Thursday tied for 37th place in the standings, recorded two birdies (No. 1, No. 8) and two bogeys to finish front nine play with an even-par 35. He added a birdie on No. 16 but posted a pair of bogeys on the back nine for a 36 to complete the first two rounds with a 143 total, seven strokes off the pace of 136 set by second day leaders Jeff Hood (California-Berkeley), Chris Nallen
(Arizona) and Matt Wells (Kentucky).

Price, who is representing Georgia Southern as an individual competitor after finishing ninth at the NCAA East Regional May 20-22, is scheduled to tee off early Thursday morning for the third of four rounds at the par-70, 6,679-yard course which is host to the 107th Men's NCAA Division I Championship.

Despite struggling Wednesday, Cal-Berkeley held on to its one-shot lead in the team standings after finishing play with a nine-over 289 to sit at 568 (+8). Kentucky stands second with a 569 while Brigham Young (570), Washington (571) and Pepperdine (571) round out the top five.

par 72 and currently stands tied for 51st after first round play of the
NCAA Championships at The Homestead Resort's Cascades Golf Course
Tuesday.

The 22-year-old Australia native recorded one birdie (No. 8) and two
bogeys to complete play with a one-over 36 on the front nine. He
duplicated the score on the back nine, adding birdies on No. 14 and No.
17 while recording three bogeys to finish with a 72, seven shots back of
first round leader Jeff Hood of California-Berkeley, who fired a 65.
