Furman Fourth After Two Rounds

NEWPORT, Rhode Island -- The Paladin golf team fired 290-302 at the
7,160-yard par 72 Newport Country Club on Monday and is in fifth with a
592 total after two rounds of the Adams Cup of Newport. The University of
Minnesota leads the tournament at 578, while Michigan State is second at
585, and Maryland is third at 591.

Senior Matt Davidson (West Windsor, N.J.) shot 73-73 on Monday and is in
eighth in the individual standings with a 146 total, while Noble Judy
(Nashville, Tenn.) and Shane Birckbichler (Greenville, S.C.) are tied for
15th after shooting 72-76. Freshman Ben Goforth is 24th after carding
73-77, while Buddy Davis (Orlando, Fla.) is 45th after shooting 76-80.

Round three of the Adams Cup of Newport is set for Tuesday.
