11th-Ranked Eagles Win Pacific Invitational

STOCKTON, Calif.- Led by medalist Aron Price (-12), 11th-ranked Georgia Southern fired a 854 in the third round to win the 31st-annual Pacific Invitational Tuesday in Stockton, Calif.

Price, the nation's top player according to Golfweek, recorded a final round 67 to win the tournament by four strokes. No. 18 Toshi Hirata finished in a four-way tie for second, scoring a final round 71 to finish at 208.

"Aron and Toshi pulled us through this final round," said head coach Larry Mays. "It is good to win a tournament that you come all the way out to California to play and it certainly makes the ride home a lot better."

Drew Bowen finished tied for 36th after shooting a 222 (+6), while Chase Jones posted a 224 (+8) and Ross Mallace earned a 228 (+12).

Georgia Southern's 10-under par score of 854 defeated CS Northridge (858) and Long Beach State (864).

The Eagles are back in action on October 3 at the Franklin Street Trust Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.
