BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss.---Chattanooga golfer Thomas Smith fired the low round
of the Gulf Coast Collegiate Classic Tuesday, a four-under-par 68, to
finish tied for third place in the individual standings. Smith's 68,
coupled with his 75 Monday, gave him a total of one-under-par 143 for the
tournament.
First-round leader, UTC's Stephen Fritsch, went from a first-round 70 to a
77 to tie for ninth at 147.
As a team, the Mocs shot a final-round 305 to finish fifth at
604. Tennessee State won the team title with a 586, 10 strokes better than
Centenary. North Alabama placed third at 599.
Tennessee State's Robert Dinwiddie turned in a three-under 69 Tuesday to
claim medalist honors by two strokes with a four-under 140. Nicholls
State's Josh Clements was second at 142.
