FRANKLIN, Tenn.---The Chattanooga golf team tied a season-low round of 285 in Tuesday's second round to improve to 14th place on the final day of the Belmont Invitational at the Legends Club.
The Mocs finished at 899 after a first-round 310 and a final-round 304. They were one stroke behind Lipscomb and five behind Morehead State.
Austin Peay State claimed team honors with an even-par score of 852 on the par-71 course. Jacksonville State was four strokes back in second place, and Mercer finished third at 858.
Florida Atlantic's Matt Anderson carded a final-round score of par 71 to hold off Robert Dinwiddie of Tennessee State for the individual title. Anderson edged Dinwiddie by one stroke, winning with a seven-under 206. Nine individuals managed under-par scores.
Ryan Owens was UTC's top finisher, tying for 27th place at seven-over 220. After being two-under-par following two rounds, he carded a final-round 80.
The Mocs will compete in the Southern Conference Championships April 18-20 at the Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, GA.
