DAVIDSON, N.C. - The North Carolina Tar Heels weathered the storm on Sunday at the Birkdale Collegiate Classic at Birkdale Golf Club, carding a six-under par 281 to take the tournament crown. UNC finished with a 36-hole total of 573, three under par. It is North Carolina's second Birkdale title in the six-year tournament history, the last coming in 1999.

Host Davidson Wildcats bettered their first round score, shooting a 305 in second round action for a 614 total, good for 14th place on their home course. Freshman Tim Dillon led the way for the 'Cats, shooting an even-par 72 on Sunday to finish in a tie for 24th place with a plus-four 148.

North Carolina's Ramon Bescansa had an impressive tournament, carding rounds of 69 and 68 to finish at seven under par. Geoffrey Harris of Old Dominion followed up a first-round tournament-low 67 with a 71 to finish in second place overall.

Following Dillon for Davidson, the next three Wildcats were within a stroke of one another. Freshman Christian Davis (78-77) and senior Ben Friedell (76-79) finished tied for 56th place, carding two-day totals of 155. Sophomore Peyton Gallagher shot a second-round 77 to place in a tie for 67th place with a 156 over 36 holes. Sophomore Dan Walker (85-81) totaled a two-round 166 to close out the Wildcat five.

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. -- Van Burgess and Trae Ely tallied two-round
totals of 152 to lead Wofford over the weekend at the Birkdale
Collegiate Classic. The Terriers finished in 15th place overall with a
score of 615.
