AIKEN, South Carolina -- In the last event before Furman's home
Intercollegiate this weekend, the Paladin team placed fifth in a field of
15 at the Cleveland Golf Collegiate Championship, hosted by USC Aiken at
the Palmetto Golf Club.
Senior Vance Embry paced the Paladins with rounds of 70-72-70, to finish
tied for 13th at one under par. David Sligh took 18th with a 213, even-par
total and fired a 68 for the low round of the day for the Paladins, while
Kirk Satterfield and Noble Judy tied for 28th at 216. Junior Matt
Davidson, Furman's top finisher at last week's Coastal Carolina
Invitational, placed 35th wtih a 218 total to round out the Furman five.
The 33rd annual Furman Intercollegiate begins this Friday at 8 a.m., and
features a 23-team field that includes defending team champion Virginia
Tech, and defending individual medalist Kirk Satterfield of Furman.
