The College of Charleston's men's golf moved up to 3rd nationally in the
lastest Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index. They are just behind Clemson,
who is first, and UNLV, who is second.
Charleston, which has earned NCAA Tournament bids in each of the last two
seasons, has competed in two tournaments this fall and is currently at Old
Memorial Golf Club in Tampa, FL competing in the Gary Koch/Cleveland Golf
Invitational hosted by Florida.
The Cougars hosted and won the 15-team Cleveland Golf/Kiawah
Intercollegiate Tournament held September 9-11 at Kiawah Island's Turtle
Point Golf Course by eight strokes over Mississippi.
Charleston finished second in the 11-team Vanderbilt/Mason Rudolph
Intercollegiate held Sept. 16-17 at Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.
Senior Bruce McDonald and junior Adam Grodhaus lead the Cougars with a
70.17 stroke average. McDonald won the Kiawah Tournament with a three-round
total of 2-under-par 214, while Grodhaus shot 66-68-66 (10-under par) to
finish second at the Vanderbilt/Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate.
Grodhaus is currently ranked 26th in the nation individually while teammate
McDonald is 28th.
