SoCon Names Volleyball Players of the Week

Rose, Barthel, Seeds Earn Final Weekly Awards

The Southern Conference named its Volleyball Players of the Week on Monday for all matches played from November 11-16.

 

Chattanooga’s Gracie Rose (Norcross, GA / Greater Atlanta Christian) was named Offensive Player of the Week, Chattanooga’s Caiti Barthel (Indianapolis, IN / Cathedral HS) was named Defensive Player of the Week, and UNC Greensboro’s Gabby Seeds(Plano, TX / Plano West HS) was named Setter of the Week.

 

Rose led the Mocs to a pair of wins, averaging 3.86 kills per set and hitting at a .273 clip for the week. She added six digs and averaged 3.93 points per set. She had 13 kills in a 3-0 sweep vs. The Citadel, then followed with 14 kills and six digs in a 3-1 win vs. Furman. Rose has recorded double figures in kills seven times in her last nine matches played and has 261 kills this season.

 

Barthel also played a major role in the Mocs’ undefeated week, averaging 5.71 digs per set in wins over Furman and The Citadel. She registered 24 digs in the three-set win over The Citadel, and followed with 16 digs in the win vs. Furman. Barthel added five assists on the week. She has played in 107 sets so far this season and has a career-high 515 digs to her credit.

 

Seeds averaged 8.88 assists per set for the week, keeping the Spartans in contention Thursday night at ETSU in a 3-2 loss, and powering UNCG to a 3-0 sweep of two-time defending SoCon Champion Wofford in the regular season finale. Against the Bucs, Seeds totaled 43 assists and 14 digs on the road. In the Wofford win, she finished with two kills, 28 assists, seven digs, and a service ace in three sets. Seeds has nine double-doubles this season and has dished off 855 assists in 89 sets played.


The 2025 Ingles SoCon Volleyball Championship begins Thursday (November 20) at 4:00 pm in Asheville, NC.
