ETSU’s Alexandrova named SoCon Women’s Tennis Player of the Week.

Junior went 3-0 in combined singles and doubles against ranked opponents

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Ralitsa Alexandrova has been named the Southern Conference women’s tennis player of the week for all matches played from March 12-18, the conference announced on Tuesday.  The award is selected by the league office.
 
Alexandrova went 3-0 this week, picking up two singles wins at the No. 6 position, and one doubles wins at the No. 3 position against No. 63 South Florida and No. 28 FIU.
 
On March 12 against South Florida, she paired with Jana Rovira for the No. 3 doubles matchup against Melisa Senli and Kelly Vargas which they won 6-4. At No. 6 singles, the Sofia, Bulgaria, product defeated Ireland Simme in straight sets, 6-3. 6-0. ETSU won the match 4-3.
 
Against FIU on March 15, the junior paired with Rovira again but the match went unfinished. In singles, Alexandrova won ETSU’s lone match point in straight sets at the No. 6 position, defeating Kristyna Hranacova, 6-4, 6-2. 

ETSU (8-6, 3-0 SoCon) hosts Mercer (10-4, 2-0) on Thursday before traveling to Chattanooga (6-7, 1-1) on Saturday.
