ETSU’s Daniela Rivera named SoCon player of the week
Senior went 3-1 against power five opponents

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Daniela Rivera has been named the Southern Conference women’s tennis player of the week for all matches played from Feb. 11-17, the conference announced on Tuesday. The award is selected by the league office.
Rivera went 3-1 against two power five opponents last week and played a key role in ETSU’s win over Minnesota. On Feb. 14 against Alabama, Rivera and Alessandra Caceres teamed up at the No. 1 doubles position and beat Sara Nayar and Klara Milicevic, 6-2. Rivera then played Maria Andrienko at the No.1 singles position, where she lost the first set 3-6, but won the second set, 6-2, forcing a third set, which she lost 3-6.
Against Minnesota on Feb. 15, Rivera and Caceres paired up again and defeated Mia Liepert and Anali Kocevar, 6-4. In singles, Rivera claimed a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Aiva Schmitz, setting the Bucs up for a match winning point.
ETSU (3-4) will travel to Gardner-Webb on Tuesday, Feb. 18, then to VCU on Sunday, Feb. 23.
