Furman’s Elle Warren named SoCon player of the week
Freshman Helps the Paladins to the Regular Season Crown
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Elle Warren has been named the Southern Conference women’s tennis player of the week for all matches played from April 7-13, the conference announced on Tuesday. The award is selected by the league office.
Warren, who also won the honor on Jan. 27 and March 31, led Furman to a 6-1 win at ETSU on April 11, which clinched the SoCon regular season title for the Paladins. Furman and ETSU each came into the dual unbeaten in SoCon play. The freshman from Canton, Ohio, combined with teammate Lillie Murphy for a 7-5 doubles win, before getting a 6-4, 7-5 victory in singles. Warren completed in flight one in both matchups.
Furman enters the SoCon Tennis Championship as the No. 1 seed and will face No. 8 seed Western Carolina in the quarterfinals at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee, at 8:30 a.m. on April 16.
