Furman’s Elle Warren named SoCon player of the week
Freshman helps the Paladins top ACC opponent
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Elle Warren has been named the Southern Conference women’s tennis player of the week for all matches played from Jan. 20-26, the conference announced on Tuesday. The award is selected by the league office.
Warren went 2-0 as Furman upset Wake Forest, 4-0, on Jan. 23. The freshman, competing in the No. 1 singles spot, topped Nevena Carton, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3, clinching the winning point in singles. The native of Canton, Ohio, combined with teammate Bianca Ceroni to win, 6-3, over Krystal Blanch and Evie Oxford in the No. 2 doubles flight.
Furman travels to Charlotte for a dual on Jan. 30.
