SoCon women’s soccer players of the week announced
Wofford’s Andrews and Washington honored
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford forward Annie Andrews and defender Layla Washington have been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition from Sept. 8-14.
Andrews contributed to all of Wofford’s goals in a 3-0 shutout win over Winthrop on Sept. 10. The junior logged assists in the 10th and 61st minutes of the contest. The native of Columbia, South Carolina, found the back of the goal off a feed from teammate Maya Lake in the 52nd minute of the game. Andrews currently leads Wofford in points (9).
Washington started and played 81 minutes in the contest with Winthrop. The product of Buford, Georgia, helped the Terriers back line secure the team’s third shutout of the season. In addition to defense, the freshman scored her first collegiate goal in the 61st minute.
Wofford begins its conference slate of games at Furman on Thursday, before hosting ETSU on Sunday.
