SoCon women’s soccer players of the week announced
The Citadel’s Grantham and Santos honored
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Citadel midfielder/forward Samantha Grantham and goalkeeper Zoe Santos have been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition from Aug. 25-31.
On Aug. 27, Grantham logged a hat trick and had an assist as The Citadel defeated South Carolina State, 8-0. The senior scored unassisted goals in the game’s sixth and 40th minutes. The native of Apple Valley, California, recorded her final goal of the contest off a feed from teammate Jasiah Pack in the 61st minute, before concluding her day with an assist on Gabrielle Macer’s goal in the 71st minute. Grantham currently leads the SoCon in points (12) and goals (5).
Santos had two saves during the Bulldogs’ win over South Carolina State. Three days later, the senior from Bedford, New Hampshire, played all 90 minutes inside the net against Winthrop, finishing with six saves to log her second shutout of the season. Santos is currently second in the league in saves (25).
The Citadel plays at UNC Asheville on Thursday.
