SoCon women’s soccer players of the week announced

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga forward Quinn Johnson and Samford goalkeeper Peyton Hull have been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition from Oct. 14-20.

Johnson had six points over two games last week for Chattanooga. The product of Vancouver, Canada, scored a goal in the second minute of a 1-1 draw against Furman on Oct. 16. The freshman logged her first career brace in a 3-0 win against VMI on Oct. 19. Johnson recorded her goals in the fifth and 53rd minutes versus the Keydets.

Hull, who won the honor for the fourth time this season, played all 180 minutes inside the net in Samford’s two conference wins last week. The redshirt sophomore had six saves as the Bulldogs defeated Mercer, 3-0, on Oct. 16. Three days later, the native of South Bend, Indiana, finished with another six saves in a 3-0 win over ETSU. After her pair of shutouts last week, Hull’s season total went to 10, moving her into second in the NCAA in the category.

Chattanooga plays at Western Carolina on Sunday. Samford, who clinched a share of the conference regular season title last week, travels to UNCG on Sunday.
