SoCon women’s soccer players of the week announced

ETSU’s Fitzgerald and Samford’s Hull honored

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU forward Reagan Fitzgerald and Samford goalkeeper Peyton Hull have been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition from Sept. 9-15.

Fitzgerald, who also received the honor on Aug. 19, scored two goals in ETSU’s 4-2 win over Radford on Sept. 11. The junior from Oviedo, Florida, scored the game’s first goal in the 53rd minute, and got her second score in the 60th minute, making the score 3-1 in favor of the Bucs. Fitzgerald currently leads in the country in game-winning goals with five.

Hull, who won the honor for the second consecutive week, posted a pair of shutouts while playing all 180 minutes inside the net for Samford last week. The redshirt sophomore had three saves in a scoreless draw at Belmont on Sept. 11. Three days later, the product of South Bend, Indiana, logged six saves at UAB. Hull, who has recorded a shutout in the last five matches for the Bulldogs, leads the NCAA in shutouts with six.

ETSU (5-2-2) begins its conference slate of games at The Citadel on Thursday, before hosting UNCG on Sunday. Samford (3-2-3) welcomes Western Carolina on Thursday, and Chattanooga on Sunday.

Also nominated for offensive player of the week: Maddie Massie (Furman), Sydney Farr (Mercer), Paige Thomas (Chattanooga), Sofia Goclowski (Western Carolina), and Julia Grier (Wofford)

 

Also nominated for defensive player of the week: Reese DeJong (Furman), Reese Wilson (Chattanooga), Leanne Trudel (Western Carolina), and Elizabeth Navola (Wofford)
