VMI’s Braxton Lewis named SoCon wrestler of the week
Early season performance lands Lewis in two national polls
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – VMI’s Braxton Lewis has been selected as the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for the week of Nov. 6 – 12.
Lewis, a native of Suffolk, Viriginia, is currently 7-3 on the season. Lewis captured two dual wins at the Wranglemania Duals against Franklin & Marshall and Sacred Heart, by pin and decision, respectively.
Most recently, Lewis defeated a nationally-ranked, two-time All-American Cael Valencia from Arizona State by majority decision, winning 12-0 at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic. Lewis finished the event going 3-1.
On Nov. 12, it was announced that Lewis received two national ranking recognitions following his season’s start. The Keydet junior is ranked #26 by WrestleStat and #33 by InterMat at 184 pounds.
The Keydets will compete at the Marymout Quad on Nov. 17 in Arlington, Viriginia.
