The Citadel’s Patrick Brophy named SoCon wrestler of the week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Citadel’s Patrick Brophy has been selected as the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for the week of Nov. 20-26. 

Brophy, a native of Chapin, South Carolina, earned a second-place podium finish at the Navy Classic on Nov. 23. On his way to a silver medal, Brophy defeated 37^th ranked Thomas Payton of Navy and 101^st ranked Austin Starr of Ohio.  

Brophy, who is ranked 31^st in Intermat’s current rankings, is now 8-2 on the season.  

Brophy’s performance helped lead the Bulldogs to a sixth place finish out of 12 teams at the event.  

The Citadel will host their next dual against Limestone on Dec. 19.
