BOONE, N.C. – Eight teams will converge in Boone, North Carolina, on Saturday with the 2024 Southern Conference Wrestling Championships being contested at the Holmes Convocation Center, with host App State looking to defend its tournament title from a season ago. The eight squads will compete for the SoCon title with 14 allocations available for the NCAA Championships.

No. 22-ranked Campbell, which finished as runners-up to the Mountaineers a year ago, will look to claim its fifth title in six years after winning its fourth SoCon regular season title in late February. The Camels wrapped up the regular season with a 14-3 record and an unblemished 8-0 record in conference matches.
App State, which is ranked 24th in the nation, finished the season second in the league’s regular-season standings with its only loss coming to Campbell on Feb. 2. The Mountaineers are seeking their second consecutive tournament crown and fifth title in 10 years.
Campbell, App State and Chattanooga have combined to win 24 of the last 26 SoCon tournament titles, with the Mocs taking home the hardware a league-record 29 times overall.
Campbell captured six top seeds in the championship: Anthony Molton (125), Dom Zaccone (133), Austin Murphy (174), Caleb Hopkins (184) Levi Hopkins (197) and SoCon Wrestler of the Year, Taye Ghadiali (Hwt).
A trio of Mountaineers went unbeaten in league duals during the regular season to earn top seeds: Cody Bond (7-0 at 149 pounds), Tommy Askey (7-0 at 157 pounds) and Will Miller (8-0 at 165 pounds).
The last remaining top seed belongs to Chattanooga’s Isaiah Powe (141) - the 12th SoCon Freshman of the Year in program history. Powe sent 21-2 on the season and was an unbeaten 13-0 in dual competition. He claimed third place at the Southern Scuffle and Southeast Open.
