Southern Conference announces seedings for 2025 Wrestling Championship

Nine teams set to compete for the championship crown on Friday and Saturday

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference has released the seeds for the 2025 Explore Asheville SoCon Wrestling Championship, the league office announced Wednesday. The championship is set to begin Friday, March 7, and conclude on Saturday, March 8, at Kimmel Arena on the campus of UNC Asheville. Nine squads will compete for the 2025 SoCon title with 13 NCAA allocations available for the NCAA Championships. 
  
The SoCon earned two NCAA allocations each at 133 pounds, 141 pounds and 197 pounds. The remaining weight classes earned one allocation each, which is the automatic qualifier for the conference tournament champion. 

 

App State seeks to defend its last two tournament titles under veteran head JohnMark Bentley. The Mountaineers finished with a share of the conference’s regular season title, with their only loss coming to Campbell on Feb. 23. Overall, App State went 8-4 on the season.  

 

Campbell, shares the conference regular season title with App State, dropping one conference dual to The Citadel on Feb. 14. The Camels concluded their regular season campaign with a 7-1 conference record and 11-9 record overall. 
  

Campbell’s Levi Hopkins (197) is looking for this third-straight title.  

 

Hopkins, Anthony Molton (125), and Shannon Hanna (141) enter the championship as the No. 1 seeds in their respective weight classes for Campbell. The Camels remaining seeded wrestlers include Logan Heil (133, No. 3), Wynton Denkins (149, No. 4), Chris Earnest (157, No. 3), Domonic Baker (165, No. 3), Riley Augustine (174, No. 5), Brant Cracraft (184, No. 9), and Landon Sargent (HWT, No. 4).  
  

App State holds two No. 1 seeds with Will Miller (165) and Luke Uliano (174) earning top spots. The Mountaineers’ remaining seeded wrestlers include Bryson Terrell (125, No. 4), Chad Bellis (133, No. 4), Aldo Hernandez (141, No. 5), Kaden Keiser (149, No. 3), Jeremiah Price (157, No. 2), Logan Eller (184, No. 4), Carson Floyd (197, No. 2), and Stephan Monchery (HWT, No. 2).  
  
The Citadel’s Carson DesRosier is the No. 1 seed in the 149-pound weight class and is the Bulldogs’ highest-seeded wrestler. The seeds for the remaining Citadel wrestlers are Gylon Sims (125, No. 2), George Rosas (133, No. 6), Thomas Termini (141, No. 8), Tyler Badgett (157, No. 5), Thomas Snipes (165, No. 2), Benjy Haubert (174, No. 4), Micah Dicarlo (184, No. 6), Patrick Brophy (197, No. 3) and Jonathan Chesser (HWT, No. 5).  
  
 

Bellarmine will compete in its first conference championship since joining the Southern Conference in 2020. The Knights secured two No. 1 seeds with Devan Hendricks in the 184-pound weight class and Daulton Mayer at heavyweight.  

 

Chattanooga secured one No. 1 seed, that being Noah Castillo (157), entering the championship on Friday. Blake Boarman (133) and Sergio Desiante (174) are both No. 2 seeds in their respective weight classes. At the No. 3 seeds in their respective weight classes for the Mocs are Eli Knight (141) and Kamdyn Munro (184).  

 

VMI comes into the SoCon Championship with two No. 2 seeds, Patrick Jordon (149) and Braxton Lewis (184). The Keydets also have one No. 3 seed in Josh Evans (HWT).  

 

Gardner-Webb's T.K. Davis enters the championships as the No. 1 seed in the 133-pound weight class. Teammate Todd Carter (141) enters the weekend as a No. 2 seed.  

 

Davidson’s Bryce Griffin is the highest seeded member of the Wildcats at No. 5 in the 165-pound weight class.  

 
Presbyterian’s Caleb Roe received the highest seed for the Blue Hose as he is the No. 5 seed at 184 pounds.  

 
A clear-bag policy will be in effect at Kimmel Arena. The championship will be streamed on ESPN+ using the following schedule: March 7 beginning at noon, March 8 beginning at noon, and March 8 beginning at 2:30 p.m.
